Here is where things stand.
V9 was built for a different era of software: installed on a single machine, tied to a single location, limited by database size and local storage. It did the job, and for a long time it did it well.
V9 is no longer being developed , and from 1 January 2027, it will no longer receive technical support or application updates. The road ahead is V10, and this page is here to make that road as clear and manageable as possible.
There is no cliff edge. V9 won't suddenly stop working, and you can move across to V10 on your own terms. Opt in by 28 February 2027 and you secure the V9 upgrade discount, even if your migration date is well into 2027.

V10 runs in the cloud.
Your jobs, data and defaults are accessible from any device, wherever you are. If your estimator is working from home, if your foreman is on site, or if you're checking a job from the office at 7am, it's all there.

If you're currently re-entering data between systems, the manual linking stops with V10.

What's changing & whyThe Commercial Model
Under your StairBiz licence, the Continuous Maintenance & Upgrade (CMU) Program has always been optional. Plenty of Version 9 customers chose not to join, and that was entirely their choice.
V10 is different. It's a living platform, continuously updated, hosted and secured on your behalf, so CMU is part of every V10 licence.
The V10 upgrade discount: available until 28 February 2027
As a V9 customer, you can move to V10 at a discounted upgrade price, but only if you opt in by 28 February 2027.
Opt in by 28 Feb 2027 Your one-off upgrade fee is the lower of:
33% of the current V10 price list for your licences, or
7% a year of the current V10 price list for each year you’ve been on V9 outside the CMU program

After 28 February 2027, the V10 upgrade discount closes. You can still move to V10, but at the standard price.
With the V10 Upgrade Discount, we'll work out both options from your licence history and quote you the cheaper one. Discounts don't apply to this calculation. GST applies where applicable.
Nothing to pay until you're on V10
You pay nothing when you opt in. Your upgrade fee and CMU only start once your business is up and running on V10. You can pay the upgrade fee in full, or spread it over 12 or 24 months..
CMU on V10: 7% per year
Once you're on V10, CMU is 7% per year of the current V10 price list for your licences, plus GST where applicable. It's billed monthly, or once a year on the anniversary of your move to V10.
CMU keeps you on the latest version. It covers continuous software updates and enhancements, new features as they're released, enterprise-level encrypted cloud storage, daily and weekly data backups, ongoing platform security and support, all handled by the StairBiz team on your behalf.
In practical terms, CMU takes on jobs many businesses currently handle themselves, such as software updates, backups and platform security, so your team can focus on building stairs.
Hosting is billed separately. V10 runs on Microsoft Azure enterprise servers, and hosting is invoiced separately from CMU. Your hosting cost is shown in your personalised quote.
Your V10 Licence Agreement
Moving to V10 means signing the current V10 licence agreement digitally. It formalises your V10 licence and CMU going forward. Signing is your opt-in and locks in your upgrade price, so there's no separate step. You'll receive it with your personalised quote, and our team will walk you through it before you sign anything.

Migrating from V9 to V10 isn't a switch you flip. It's a managed process, done in stages, with the StairBiz team working alongside you.
To give every business our full focus, we migrate one V9 customer each week. Opting in secures your place in the queue, and we'll agree a migration date that suits your business, or within a time frame that suits you (subject to availability).

V10 isn't a program installed on your computer. It's a platform we keep running, updating and securing for you every day.
CMU funds the development, the platform and the team behind it. On V9 you could choose to sit out. On V10, it's how the platform stays current.

As technology moves on, Microsoft's in particular, there will come a point where V9 no longer runs on current operating systems. V10 is built for where technology is heading.
